Facebook acquires e-commerce search engine TheFind

The Social networking giant Facebook has acquired shopping search engine Thefind to make its ads more relevant. Terms of the deal has not yet been disclosed.

“We’re excited to welcome TheFind to Facebook. TheFind’s talented team has built a successful search engine that connects people to products. Together, we believe we can make the Facebook ads experience even more relevant and better for consumers,” Facebook said in a statement.

Facebook plans to shutter TheFind “in the next few weeks,” according to TheFind.
the find
TheFind launched in 2006. The concept: to make the shopping experience easier by searching for products in all of the stores on the Web. The comparison shopping site used Facebook “Likes,” clicks on TheFind.com and past shopping searches to customize searches and help shoppers find what they want faster.

“We are now starting our next chapter by combining forces with Facebook to do even more for consumers,” TheFind said in a note on its website. “Facebook’s resources and platform give us the opportunity to scale our expertise in product sourcing to the over 1 billion people that use the platform.”
