Locals and visitors will get to taste maple syrup and candy, watch syrup be produced and go on sugarbush tours when more than 100 sugarhouses across Maine open to the public on Sunday. This is the 32nd year that the event will take place.

Gov. Paul LePage kicked off Maine’s maple syrup season when he tapped a maple tree on the Blaine House earlier this month. A University of Maine study says the maple syrup industry pumps about $27.7 million into the state’s economy.
